2016 Neustadt juror Mũkoma wa Ngũgĩ has a short story in this new collection titled Cooked Up: Food Fiction from Around the World. Ngũgĩ’s piece, “Walking the Wok,” can be read on the Books Live website.
Neustadt finalist Caryl Churchill’s latest play received rave reviews from the Brisbane Times. Churchill’s Love and Information was produced by Malthouse Theatre and STC and will be on the stage until July 4.
In honor of Father’s Day check out Neustadt juror Andrew Lam’s tribute to his father. The essay touches on the Vietnamese diaspora and commemorates those who fought during wars.

Lit Prizes and Festivals
Sofie Laguna won Australia’s top literary award, the Miles Franklin, for her novel The Eye of the Sheep.
The European Union Prize for Literature announced its 12 winners this week. Writers from Croatia, Hungary, Lithuania, Norway, Slovakia, Sweden, Austria, and other countries were honored. The full list of winners can be viewed here.
